CONVENIENT VIDEO CONFERENCE HEARINGS

To make the justice system more accessible, I plan to offer video conference hearings as a standard option. This will allow individuals to attend court without the burden of taking time off work, arranging childcare, or traveling long distances. With this approach, justice becomes more efficient, flexible, and inclusive—especially for those with limited resources or mobility.

NIGHT COURT FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Many working individuals face the difficult choice between attending court and keeping their jobs. To address this, I will implement Night Court sessions—offering extended evening hours for hearings and proceedings. This will help ensure that everyone has the opportunity to resolve legal matters without sacrificing their income, job security, or family responsibilities.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH SEMINARS. Landlord - Tenant Rights, Truancy, Small Claims, etc.

Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to understanding your legal rights. I will organize regular community seminars focused on practical legal topics such as landlord-tenant issues, truancy, and small claims. These free events will provide residents with valuable tools and information to better protect themselves, their families, and their futures—while building stronger trust between the court and the community.

Expanding Accessible and Flexible Court Operations

Sonia Rash is committed to making courts more accessible and responsive. She advocates for flexible scheduling, language access, and community-focused solutions to ensure justice works for everyone.

Additional Virtual Hearings and Evening Sessions

Sonia Rash supports offering virtual hearings and evening court sessions to better serve working families and increase access to justice for all.

Enhance Court Efficiency and Professionalism

Sonia Rash is dedicated to improving court operations through streamlined processes, timely case handling, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and respect for all.

Free Education & Community Engagement Programs

Sonia Rash advocates for free legal education and community programs to empower residents, build trust in the justice system, and keep families informed and engaged.

Commitment to Service & Justice

Judge Sonia Rash took office on January 1, 2023. She is a dedicated community advocate, proud wife, and mother of two daughters. A resident of Fort Bend County for 17 years, she is honored to call this community home.

With two decades of legal experience, Judge Rash has built her career on serving the public. She ran for office with a clear mission: to bring justice, fairness, and efficiency to everyone who comes before the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 court.

Champion for the Underserved

Raised in Houston by working-class parents, Judge Rash has spent years fighting for the underserved—whether in courtrooms, free legal clinics, or through grassroots advocacy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in international relations/economics, and a law degree from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

Dedicated Community Leader

Her passion for service extends far beyond the bench. Judge Rash has received numerous awards for her volunteerism and community outreach efforts. She has served as Vice President of LULAC Chapter 2911, Third Vice President of the NAACP of Missouri City and surrounding areas, and as a Board Member of S.M.I.L.E., a mentorship program for underserved students.

Expanding Access to Justice

Since taking office, Judge Rash has made it her mission to ensure that every person who enters her courtroom is treated with dignity and respect. She is the only Justice of the Peace in Fort Bend County to offer Night Court for working families, free community outreach and educational programs, and a dedicated resource area for both legal and non-legal needs. Through these initiatives, Judge Rash is breaking down barriers to justice, expanding access to resources, and making the court truly a place where the community can find help, hope, and fairness.
